Dino Riders

I stumbled across this amazing TV series complete with action figures and all. DINO RIDERS!

It's hard to think of anything cooler than dinosaurs in epic battles with lasers and futuristic guidance systems. Kind of reminds me of Stuart Vaughn Stockton's Starfire published by Marcher Lord Press.

I think I would have owned the complete set of these action figures if I'd known about them as a boy.

Just look at this awesome art work! What dinosaur would you like to ride?? I think I'd take the pterodactyl, but then again, that triceratops looks pretty cool.

Or perhaps the tyrannosaur or the Diplodocus?

Hmm...too many cool laser clad dino's to choose from. When it comes right down to it, I'd be happy to ride any of them.

Hmm... I think riding the Pterodactyl would be the coolest. But the T-Rex would be great, too. Nice to find another reader of Starfire on the net. ;)

Hey Kat,
I just discovered them!

Hey Chris,
I agree...riding a T-Rex would be a lot of fun ;)

Well, I was a teen in the eighties...

And, I forgot to mention before, it does kinda remind me of Starfire. Loved that book!

Hey Ban :)
That's funny. Takes a real girl to like dino's :)

Hey Kat,
I was a teen in the nineties, one decade behind and I missed out on dino riders :(

Being an 80s gal, I missed Dino-Riders. Darn, and surprising since I loved dinosaurs as a kid.

I guess I considered dinosaurs passe when I reached my teen years.

Starfire is on my list of must-reads.

Hi Andra,
Alas, we both were deprived of Dino Rider joy as children....

I remember I won a "dinosaur spelling bee" in grade school. I was so proud that I could spell all those nonsensical, long names!

Starfire has dinosaurs?

Great post and discussion!

Hey KM,
Kudos for winning that dino spelling bee! :) I wish I'd have had a dino spelling be at my school :(

Reminds me of Steve Jackson's Games Car Wars board game, where you decked your cars out with rocket launchers, guns, and armor, and then blew the other cars off the road.
Designing the cars was the fun bit, from what I recall.

As for me, I'd want to ride the Triceratops. Plenty of natural armor protection behind that head...

Hey Robin, as a board game fan, I have to say that "Car Wars" game sounds like fun...building your own suped-up battle cars. Oh yea.

And good choice with the Triceratops. Your reasoning is sound...sure, you could ride a cooler dinosaur perhaps...but as far as staying alive and intact...nothing like a triceratops bone plate to protect you! :)

You're a board game fan too, eh?
Any particular favorites?

Hey Robin,
Well, I'd have to say Risk is dear to my heart. But so to is Settlers of Catan, Blockus, Attack!, Titan (Avalon Hill games are amazing, but complicated and time consuming!).

I also played a Battlestar Galactica board game that was a ton of fun. And a game called Camelot. Both were great games!

Hi Brandon,
Risk and Settlers of Catan are awesome games, I especially enjoyed Catan Histories: Struggle for Rome. I've got unpunched copies of Serenissima and Space Hulk in the cupboard, waiting for my kids to be old enough to play them. My two favorite board games would have to be Milton Bradley's Shogun and The Russian Campaign.

Hey Robin,
Haha, I'm going to be the same way...waiting patiently until my kids are old enough to play with me!
I'll have to check out Shogun and The Russian Campaign...Haven't heard of those!
