I'm writing a short story tentatively titled "The Ruining of Jason Cole" about a company that travels through wormholes and gathers resources to bring back to earth, like water, etc. But since when they travel through the wormholes, shifts in time can occur, they begin to wonder whether the lifeless planets they'd been harvesting resources from would have developed sentient life if they hadn't interefered with the planet--and whether potential life really matters. I see it as a kind of evaluation of the same moral dilemmas involved with abortion.

Thats a great idea. I like it. How is it coming? Are you making it into a short story or longer? I like the question it poses on the abortion issue--its a good comparison!

I've been working on a novel for two years, but I lost the first chapter whem my computer crashed, so I just got it re-written. I want to post it for comment, but all I have now is WebTV. It's a first-contact story, and the protagonist is a clone with implanted memories. So he's got this future -shock thing going on, plus the question of whether he is the same person as the DNA donor, plus a profound sense of inadequacy as to why he was selected by the Master Control Program to work in this area. The influences are: C.S.Lewis, Jack Barnes, and maybe even a little Douglas Adams.

that sounds like a great character story!

I'm not new to Science Fiction or Science Fantasy. However, I am new to writing for a Christian audience. I have many stories, that I'd like to sell, from my blog site.
Currently, I'm finishing up a novel tentively titled:
"The Land of Sabra." Now it is not for a Christian audience, but I'd like to re-write the novel so that it is for a Christian audience so I can spread the Word of Jesus Christ!
You can see some of my writing at:

Also, any criticism: spelling, grammar, does it sound good, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I plan to blog out 3 books, 1 anthology (which is nearly finished) and many stories. The Lord has blessed me with a gift, a great imaginiation!
Someone mentioned getting an agent. Is that necessary on a blog? I really don' t know whether it is or isn't. I remember, when I started my novel (in 1978) looking for an agent and then not finding any agents at all. I did find a kind man at a publishing house in Chicago. I think he's still waiting for my first novel. I hope not.

Hey, sounds like a great premise. I've completed a novel called the Lords Of Silica - Technis, and I've recently added an eNovel version. If you liked the Matrix, but could have done without all the baggage, this is the novel for you ;) Blessings to all, Tom Roe http://LordsOfSilica.com

I am currently writing/editing a Sci-fi/Fantasy genre which I've entitled "The Twilight Legacies: The Sixth Eye." It is a novel that I spent ten years working on this story and I've been searching for publishing companies, but it has been difficult to find the right publisher. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm currently writing chapter 11 of ~15 of my first novel.

It's about a young man whose father dies. He invents a device to view the unalterable past, a "TimeWatcher", only to discover that his father was murdered. He's off to solve the ancient mystery that his father died trying to solve and bring the murderer to justice.

Basic situations explored are the different views that each of the main characters have of their respective fathers. Some are happy; others are negative. Those views are compared to the "ideal" which is only found in God the Father.

Brandon Barr said...

Hi Nathan,
Sounds like an exciting story. Now I'm wondering...what was this mystery the main characters father was trying to solve??? And I like the theme of portraying God the Father as the ideal father figure in the story.

I'm working on a dozen novels. Many are 'finished' in the sense that they have a beginning, middle, and end and you can read them on the web (www.vonsbooks.com)

However none of them have been edited, I have no cover art, no publisher, no agent...

But I still am having a lot of fun. I am enjoying 'webook' where some people actually give good criticism.

I will do reciprocal links for other christian sci fi/fantasy/etc... just let me know where

I'm currently writing a Christian SciFi trilogy entitled Legends of the Comets. The first book, Though Storms May Rage, is finished, and I'm trying to find a publisher for it. I'm halfway through the second book, The Just Renegade. Any suggestions for publishers?
The following is my book in a sentence: Six teen protégés create advanced star fighters and embark on missions for the ISF to unknowingly combat the advances of the infamous Sir Sloan Storm, ruler of the Castor star system.
On Earth, a group of six teen protégés have assembled themselves into a specialized group entitled the 'SSDF', or Six Star Defense Force. Each person has a God-given gift for creating technology better than anything known in the universe. The ISF Academy has been training them and other students for years.
Meanwhile, a ruthless space pirate is working on a plan to take over the universe, starting with the Denebola system, namely, Lobene's moons. Having proven themselves in a contest and an escorting mission, the SSDF, along with a few high-ranking officers, is directed to leave Pluto and head to Moon1L as emissaries in their homemade Carrier. But everything seems out to get them. Will they survive the trip and complete their mission to the Denebolians, or will they be sidetracked and destroyed despite (or because?) of their supreme technology and faith in God?
Follow this group of ordinary teenagers thrust into extra-ordinary circumstances in 'Though Storms May Rage' and find out! (The ISF stands for the Intergalactic Space Force of the United Peoples of the Federacy.

Hi Nathaniel,
That sounds like a fun sci-fi adventure indeed! As far as publishers I'd recommend four. These four are Christian publishers of speculative fiction:
1) Marcher Lord Press
2) Double-edged publishing
3) The Writers Cafe Press
4) Splashdown Books

Good luck Nathaniel! Let me know how it goes, too.
